About Cell:

Vide Office Order No. 385 dated 9.6.2023 (SAO), the Institute has created a new Technical Cell to coordinate with all scientific divisions at Headquarters, Roorkee and Regional Centres (Jammu, Patna, Guwahati, Bhopal, Belagavi, Kakinada, Jodhpur) to collect & compile requisite technical inputs (viz. input for WG & TAC meetings, input for Annual Report, monthly RFD/physical achievement under R&D schemes pertaining to technical reports, publications, trainings, etc.). The Technical Cell functions in close coordination with the Director (NIH).

Apart from above, the Technical Cell also facilitates effective dissemination of scientific output of the Institute by conducting/coordinating various outreach activities viz., exhibitions, mass awareness in schools/villages/general public through social media, preparation of short video films pertaining to R&D studies (hydrology for people), etc. Technical Cell is also responsible for networking and liaison with ministries, academics and research organizations, industry, NGOs, INC-IHP (UNESCO), UKCEH, WMO, etc. The scientists/Staff of the Technical Cell are also associated in R&D studies, sponsored projects/consultancy. A Liaising and Coordination Unit (LCU-New Delhi) is also attached with the Technical Cell. All above activities were earlier carried out by Research Management and Outreach Division (RMOD).

Key Functions:

• To coordinate research activities among Scientific Divisions & RCs
• To coordinate and liaise with the Ministry of Jal Shakti (GoI) and other ministries and departments of the Central and State Governments
• Coordination of technical/scientific meetings (WG, TAC, etc.)
• Monthly reporting the progress/physical achievements (viz. technical reports, publications, trainings, etc.) of the Institute to MoJS (GoI) pertaining to R&D schemes
• Preparation of documents (e.g. Output-Outcome/Result Framework Document (RFD), NIH Annual Report, Input for AR of MoJS, Input for Jal Charcha Magazine of MoJS, etc.)
• Preparation of thematic videos of R&D activities under “Hydrology for People” for social media and exhibitions.
• Coordination of IEC activities/Mass Awareness in Schools, Villages, Exhibitions, etc.
• Coordination of Capacity building programmes including to facilitate dissertations of UG/PG students of various Institutes.
• Input in S&T dissemination (Library & Documentation, Media Cell Activities, AV unit, Exhibitions, Training Cell Activities, IPR Cell Activities, ISO activities, INC-IHP, LCU-New Delhi)
• Coordinating review of NIH technical reports
• To performs various other activities as assigned by the Institute.
